Honey Wheat Bread II
Everybody loves this never fail recipe! It is lovely served with any meal.
- 2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add honey, and stir well. Mix in whole wheat flour, salt, and vegetable oil. Work all-purpose flour in gradually. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead for at least 10 to 15 minutes. When dough is smooth and elastic, place it in a well oiled bowl. Turn it several times in the bowl to coat the surface of the dough, and cover with a damp cloth. Let rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk, about 45 minutes.
- 2Punch down the dough. Shape into two loaves, and place into two well greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pans. Allow to rise until dough is 1 to 1 1/2 inches above pans.
- 3Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 25 to 30 minutes.
Here's some yummy, Chinese dim sum you can make, either plain without meat fillings, or with meat fillings. A wok equipped with a stainless steel steam plate, a plate with holes to allow steam to pass, is required to make these tasty buns. You may use milk in place of the warm water if you wish.
This fruity, yeast bread is very addictive. It is good for breakfast, tea time, and after dinner snacks.
Aloha! Here in Hawaii, malasadas are the ONLY donuts we have! They are sold at fundraisers and are very popular. There are many Portuguese descendants in the islands. Onolicious!
This bread is made with spelt flour. Spelt and lecithin can be purchased at health food stores.
Grated lemon or orange rind may be added to this recipe for a slightly different flavor.
This pull-apart bread accented with orange zest makes a nice treat to go with coffee. It's been Grandpa approved!
Old fashioned New England flavor using a bread machine! You can mix the bread in the machine then bake it in the regular oven using your favorite pans, I do.
A slightly sweet bread with a great flavor combination of raisins and caraway seeds.
Use skim milk and this recipe is fat free!
These are a delicious cross between a roll and a biscuit. You roll them out like a biscuit, and they rise like a roll.
